Reaction Injection Moulding (RIM)
Moulded Structural Polyurethane

Custom Foam Systems has built on it's moulding expertise and now offers Structural RIM Polyurethane Foam as a material alternative. RIM Polyurethane parts possess a very unique combination of properties and characteristics and are replacing traditional materials such as wood, plastics, fibreglass and metal in a diversity of applications.

Compared to alternative manufacturing processes, the RIM process uses low viscosity reaction mixtures, low temperatures and low moulding pressures. This creates six very distinct advantages; With RIM, you gain the ability to:

1) Mould very large parts
2) Encapsulate inserts
3) Mould parts with thick and thin walls
4) Produce a class-A surface
5) In-mould Decorate
6) Make moulds for low costs and short lead times

Additional benefits: high strength and low part weight, high heat resistance, thermal insulation, dimensional stability, resistance to damaging chemicals and solvents, resistance to weathering and aging.
